Usage and dosage

Fluoroquinolone antibiotic, used for treatment of dog’s deep and superficial skin infection, urinary tract infection, the cat's skin and soft tissue infection, acute upper respiratory tract infection

Used for sensitive bacteria caused infection of cattle, pigs, dogs, cats, such as respiratory tract, the digestive tract, urinary tract, skin infections, etc. For cattle’s, sheep’s mastitis and pig’s mastitis, metritis, no milk syndrome, Marbofloxacin is workable.

Intramuscular injection, a quantity, 2 mg per 1 kg weight of cattle and pig, 1 times a day. Oral, a quantity,2 mg per KG, livestock weight 1 times a day. Both continue 3 days.

Pharmacologic action

Marbofloxacin is a new type of fluoroquinolone antibiotic, by inhibiting bacterial DNA transcription to inhibit the growth of bacteria, it also has antibacterial activity to the gram-negative bacteria, gram-positive bacteria and mycoplasma. Marbofloxacin can be absorbed by oral and injected drugs, and has low toxic and side effect

1.    Pharmacodynamics: wide antimicrobial spectrum, strong antibacterial activity. the MIC90 of most enterobacteriaceae, multiple kill Pasteur's bacteria, pseudomonas aeruginosa, golden yellow staphylococcus and staphylococcus aureus were 0.08 ~ 0.28, 0.04, 0.94, 0.2, and 0.23 mu g/mL, fairlyto ciprofloxacin and enrofloxacin. The MIC90 of bovine respiratory pathogens such as kill more sexual Pasteur's bacteria, hemolytic Pasteur's bacteria, lethargy haemophilus and mycoplasma were 0.02, 0.02, 0.03 and 0.48 mu g/mL. The product is still valid to some drug-resistant pathogenic bacteriasuch as erythromycin, clindamycin, chloramphenicol, doxycycline, sulphonamide pathogen.

2.    Pharmacokinetic: absorbed quickly and completely after injection and oral, combining with plasma proteins in low rate, wide distribution in the tissue, distribution in the kidney, liver, lungs and skin is good, its concentration in plasma and tissue is higher than most pathogens’ MIC. The oral bioavailability ofpregnant sows and cat is about 80%, calf is above 100%. This product has a large distribution volume (more than 1.3 L/kg), except the central nervous, the drug concentrationsof all tested tissue are higher than plasma. Part in hepatic is metabolism into inactive metabolites (N - methyl MBF and N - oxygen MBF). Main excretion way is through kidney, there is about 30%--45% drug prototype in dogs’ urine. Half-life is long, for dogs’oral and subcutaneous injection, itcan be 14 hours and 13hours, for calves (intramuscular injection), chicken (intramuscular injection), the sow (oral), cat (oral), it can be 4.33, 5.26, 5.74 and 10 h. So the effective blood drug concentration can maintain for a long time after doseing.

Side effect

There is no adverse reaction to dog after Subcutaneous injection of double largest suggested dosage. 4mg/kg intravenous injection, it has mild and short adverse reactions: Salivating, neurological disorders (barking, excited, tremor).

1.    Forbidden to the dog in less than 12 months old

2.    Forbidden to the Great Dane and the Tibetan mastiff with longgrowth period in less than 18 months old
